The welcome folder at Links View contains additional information
about many of the places and activities listed below.
Culloden

Culloden Moor
Culloden Battlefield is within walking distance of Links View. This is the site of the last pitched battle in mainland Britain. The atmospheric moor can be explored on foot. The visitor centre tells the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie's defeat and the end of the Jacobite Rebellion. Open all year round.

Fort George
Built following the Battle of Culloden, Fort George is one of the most outstanding artillery fortifications in Europe. It has exhibitions showing the life of soliders of the period and an excellent museum. Overlooking the Moray Firth and Black Isle, it is located only 10 miles from Links View. Open all year round.

Cawdor Castle
Only 10 miles from Links View, this legendary castle is well worth a visit. It has delightful gardens, forest trails along the riverside and its own 9 hole golf course. Open daily from May to mid October.

Brodie Castle
A fine interior, plus woodland walks, gardens and a lake. If you have chance to visit during the Spring, the famous collection of daffodils will be in full bloom.

Cawdor Castle
Fortrose

Dolphins and Seals of the Moray Firth
You can observe dolphins in the Moray Firth on a boat trip from Inverness or the Black Isle. Dolphins can also often be spotted from Chanonry Point (pictured here).
Alternatively, try the visitor centre at North Kessock (just 2 miles from Inverness) which includes video footage, underwater microphones and binoculars.

Loch Ness
The complete circuit of the loch (some 70 miles) can be toured in a day by car from Inverness. The ruins of Urquhart Castle, now in the care of Historic Scotland, overlook the deep waters. Boat trips are available from Inverness, Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus. Forest trails and walking on sections of the Great Glen Way provide opportunities for enjoying the fresh air. Drumnadrochit has a number of popular 'Nessie' visitor centres, but not everyone takes the detour to explore the marvellous scenery of Glen Affric.

Urquhart Castle

Landmark Forest Heritage Park
Situated between Inverness and Aviemore, this activity centre includes water raft rollercoaster rides, trails, timber viewing tower and an extensive adventure play area.

Distilleries
The Speyside Whisky Trail is an ideal way of visiting a number of distilleries including The Glenlivet Distillery or The Glenfiddich Distillery or the Speyside Cooperage where you can see highly skilled coopers making and repairing the oak casks which are used to mature many different whiskies.
Just to the north of Inverness, there are several more distilleries which visitors can tour: Glen Ord, Dalmore and Glenmorangie (Gaelic for 'Glen of Tranquillity').

Golf
Our location is ideally suited for golfing holidays with a large number of courses within easy travelling distance. The Nairn West Course was the venue for the 1999 Walker Cup and Royal Dornoch is another championship course. We have a full list of all the courses available and can assist you in arranging tee times if required.

Cycling
We have booklets showing the local cycle routes in the Highlands. We can arrange mountain bike hire from Inverness. If you wish to bring your own bikes we can provide secure storage at the farm if required.

Walking
We can give advice and information on a large number of walks in our area and give details of web sites to allow you to plan any route in advance of your holiday.

Fishing
We can arrange permits for local trout loch fishing and give advice on availability on river fishing in the area.

Horse Riding
There are a number of riding centres within a 10 mile radius. We can give details of these venues but would recommend you book well in advance prior to you holiday to ensure availability.

Dining Out
With Inverness only 4 miles away you have access to a wide range of eating venues, from fast food outlets to exclusive restaurants. In the countryside, Cawdor Tavern (near Cawdor Castle) is a very pleasant country pub, which is very popular with locals and tourists. The Tomatin Inn is another country restaurant, which again specialises in local produce. Sample menus for a number of venues are available in the information folder provided in the house.
